What if creating were a way of thinking, searching and engaging with the world?

From the artist’s experience to the earliest explorations of young children, Sandra Abreu invites us to reflect on what happens when we create: gesture, the body, materials, uncertainty, but also our relationship with others.

At the intersection of art, research, early childhood and cultural health, this conference explores creativity as a profoundly human experience, present from the very first moments of life.

What does the act of creating tell us about our humanity?

Sandra Abreu is a visual artist, art therapist, researcher and founder of Lilomino – Le lieu de la créativité, in Bordeaux. For more than twenty years, she has developed an artistic practice exploring different forms of expression —textile art, video, printmaking and immersive installations— with a current focus on early childhood.

Her work lies at the intersection of research-creation, art and cultural health, exploring the role of creativity from the earliest years of life. She creates installations in which children are not merely spectators, but active participants in the experience: they explore, transform, interact and build their own relationship with materials, space and others.

At Lilomino, Sandra Abreu runs a research-creation and action laboratory that brings together artists, early childhood professionals and researchers to consider creativity as a fundamental language from childhood onwards, and as a space for connection, individuality and inclusion.
